Foreign professionals planning to travel to the United Arab Emirates in search of employment can now access updated guidance on the country’s jobseeker visit visa.
The UAE Government has outlined the eligibility conditions and documents required by foreigners seeking to enter the country without first having a sponsor or employer.
The visa is available for 60, 90 or 120 days and is issued for a single trip.
What Is the UAE Jobseeker Visa?
The jobseeker visa allows eligible foreigners to travel to the UAE and look for employment opportunities while they are in the country.
It is different from a work visa.
A person who finds a job while holding the jobseeker visa must obtain the relevant work authorisation before beginning employment.
Educational and Professional Conditions
The updated UAE requirements provide more than one route for applicants to qualify.
Applicants may be eligible if they fall within the first three professional skill levels recognised by the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation.
Foreign graduates may also qualify if they attended a university among the world’s top 500 institutions under the UAE Ministry of Education’s approved classification.
However, applicants relying on the university qualification must have completed their studies within the last two years.
A bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification is also required.
Documents Applicants Need
The UAE Government says applicants must meet the required financial guarantee and provide supporting documents with their application.
The listed documents include:
1. Coloured photograph
Applicants must provide a recent colour photograph.
2. Passport copy
A copy of a valid passport is required.
3. Attested qualification
Applicants must submit an attested certificate showing their educational qualification.
Applications are available through the relevant online platforms operated by Dubai’s General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs and the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security.
