Human rights lawyer and Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), Femi Falana, has dismissed claims that he endorsed or supported Labour Party presidential candidate in the 2023 election, Peter Obi, or any other politician.

Falana clarified his position amid reports and speculations circulating on social media, stressing that his interventions on national issues are guided by constitutional principles, the rule of law, and the public interest—not by partisan political affiliations.

According to the senior lawyer, his longstanding record of advocacy has always focused on promoting justice, accountability, human rights, and good governance, regardless of which political party or individual is involved.

He urged members of the public to disregard attempts to portray him as aligned with any politician or political movement, maintaining that his comments on governance and public policy should not be misconstrued as political endorsements.

Falana also cautioned against the spread of misinformation, especially on social media, where statements are sometimes taken out of context or falsely attributed to public figures.

The clarification has generated reactions among political observers, with many noting that Falana has consistently maintained an independent stance on national issues while holding successive governments accountable through legal advocacy and public commentary.

As political activities ahead of future elections continue to gather momentum, analysts expect public figures and civil society leaders to face increased scrutiny over perceived political affiliations.
