Kabiru Tanimu Turaki, the factional National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has distanced himself from a reported meeting held by members of his faction to support Kebbi State Governor, Nasir Idris, for the 2027 elections.
Turaki, who previously served as the Minister of Special Duties and Intergovernmental Affairs, denied any knowledge of such a meeting when questioned.
In his response, he clarified, “We are not aware of the meeting.”
An online source had reported that the gathering involved a former minister, Buhari Bala, and General Ishaya Bamayi (Rtd), who allegedly facilitated discussions leading to an agreement to endorse the Idris administration for the upcoming elections.
Turaki emphasized that his faction did not know about this meeting and, as such, could not support any decisions made there.
“We are not aware of the meeting. ‘Shirmen banaza ne,'” he reiterated.
This situation unfolds amidst ongoing divisions within the PDP as it gears up for the 2027 general elections. Neither the Nyesom Wike nor the Turaki-led faction has yet announced their governorship candidate for Kebbi State for these elections.
