The Oyo State Police Command has arrested ten suspects involved in the trafficking of human parts. During the operation, authorities recovered items believed to be body parts and charms. This information was disclosed by DSP Olayinka Ayanlade, Public Relations Officer for the command, in a statement issued to journalists on Saturday in Ibadan.
Ayanlade explained that after several months of thorough intelligence gathering and covert surveillance by the command’s monitoring unit, these arrests were made. The suspects were apprehended at different locations in the Iseyin and Saki areas of the state.
Following their apprehension, operatives conducted searches of the suspects’ hideouts and discovered several items believed to be human parts. The evidence comprised a suspected human heart, flesh, pieces of a human skull, and various charms.
Ayanlade mentioned that the confiscated items are being held for forensic analysis and further investigation. The suspects are actively collaborating with investigators to determine the source, acquisition, and intended use of these items.
The command’s spokesperson noted that efforts are continuing to identify and capture additional members of the syndicate involved. He further mentioned that Mr. Abimbola Olugbenga, the State Commissioner of Police, commended the operatives for their comprehensive intelligence-driven operation and professionalism.
