The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has directed members of the Super Falcons’ technical crew to step down with immediate effect.
The decision follows a difficult 2026 campaign in which Nigeria failed to secure an automatic qualification ticket for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
The NFF Executive Committee announced the decision in a brief statement on Monday but did not disclose the specific reason for the directive.
“The Executive Committee of the Nigeria Football Federation has asked members of the technical crew of the @NGSuper_Falcons to step down with immediate effect,” the federation said.
The move comes after the Super Falcons endured a disappointing Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) campaign.
Nigeria began its Group C campaign with a defeat to Malawi, who were making their debut in the competition. Malawi subsequently progressed to the final, where they lost to Cameroon, who secured their first WAFCON title.
The Super Falcons’ campaign ended in the quarter-finals following a defeat to Cameroon, a result that denied Nigeria an automatic ticket to the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
The NFF’s decision now leaves the Super Falcons facing a major technical shake-up as the federation prepares for the team’s next phase.
