Deji Adeleke, businessman and father of Afrobeats star Davido, has alleged that the All Progressives Congress (APC) spent about N60 billion on vote-buying during the Osun State governorship election.

Adeleke also claimed that voters in some areas were offered as much as N50,000 for a single vote.

Speaking in Osogbo, the Osun State capital, he said he prayed on election day that voters would collect the money allegedly offered by the APC but still cast their ballots for his brother, Governor Ademola Adeleke.

“I said, ‘God Almighty, let people collect their money but still vote for Ademola Adeleke,’” he said.

According to him, reports of the alleged spending prompted him to retreat to his room and pray for his brother’s victory.

Deji Adeleke said: “They spent N60 billion as we heard. Some places they bought votes for as high as 50,000, for one single vote.”

Governor Ademola Adeleke won the election after securing 511,067 votes, defeating APC candidate Bola Oyebamiji, who polled 444,815 votes.

The N60 billion and N50,000 figures are allegations made by Deji Adeleke and have not been independently established in the account provided.
