Operatives from the Mowe Division of the Ogun State Police Command have successfully dismantled a suspected illegal baby factory in the Obafemi-Owode Local Government Area. During this operation, six suspects were arrested, and two pregnant women, along with four children, were rescued.
The operation took place on Monday at Toluwalase Street, Abaren Village, as part of the command’s ongoing initiatives to combat human trafficking and child exploitation.
In the rescue, police freed two heavily pregnant women: Ilesanmi Foluke, 23, who was reportedly seven months along, and Ejekwa Melody, 20. Additionally, four children were also saved from the premises.
This raid came after intelligence reports gathered by officers attached to the Mowe Division about an alleged syndicate operating there.
Six individuals were apprehended during the operation: Florence Glory Ogbona, 58; Magdalene Julius, 63, who served as an attending nurse; Oseni Kusamotu Idaya; Chidike Egwuonwu, 40; Onyechu Chidike, 35; and Stephen Ogbona, 39. All suspects are currently in police custody as investigations continue.
This effort is part of a broader campaign by the Ogun State Police Command to eliminate human trafficking, child exploitation, and illegal adoption-related activities. Authorities will investigate how the victims were brought to this location and seek to identify any other individuals or organizations involved.
The rescued women and children are expected to receive necessary care and support during the ongoing investigation. The police have also urged the public to provide credible information on suspected trafficking networks and other criminal activities to security agencies.
The recent operation highlights the dedicated efforts of law enforcement in Ogun State to dismantle criminal networks exploiting vulnerable women and children.
