The Kwara State Government has announced the release of 176 victims abducted during the February 3, 2026, attack on Woro and Nuku communities in Kaiama Local Government Area.
The announcement was made on Wednesday through the state’s official Facebook page, bringing an end to months of uncertainty for the victims and their families.
Reacting to the development, the government expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, security agencies and all those who contributed to securing the victims’ freedom.
“Alhamdulillaah and kudos to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR, security forces, and everyone who played a role in this huge feat. We are grateful!” the statement read.
The victims were abducted after suspected Boko Haram-linked extremists stormed the rural communities of Woro and Nuku on motorcycles in a coordinated attack that reportedly lasted for several hours.
While the state government confirmed the victims’ release, it did not disclose the circumstances surrounding their freedom or whether any rescue operation or negotiations led to their release.
