Jude Okoye’s former lawyer, Inibehe Effiong, has criticized Peter Okoye for allegedly trying to sway public opinion in the legal battle involving Jude, who once managed the now-disbanded music duo Psquare.

Effiong shared his views on his official X account, addressing Peter Okoye’s claims about Jude’s handling of Psquare’s finances and business dealings. He noted that Peter’s public statements contradict what he testified during cross-examination.

Our firm initially represented Jude Okoye in his legal defense, handling applications for bail at both the Federal High Court and the High Court of Lagos State. Later, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria took over the case.

Effiong emphasized that Jude Okoye hasn’t been convicted of any crime, highlighting his right to be presumed innocent.

Jude has yet to face any criminal conviction in court. We must respect his constitutional presumption of innocence.

He also defended Jude’s bail conditions, like submitting travel documents, as standard procedure rather than an implication of guilt. Effiong criticized Peter for discussing the ongoing case on social media.

It’s concerning that Peter, the complainant in both cases, prefers a social media trial despite having cases pending before competent courts.

Effiong accused Peter of making contradictory statements online and in court.

Peter’s online remarks differ from what he admits in court during cross-examinations. He’s fully aware of his actions.

He urged Peter to focus on presenting evidence in court rather than engaging in public narratives.

Peter should concentrate on testifying in court to substantiate the charges against Jude instead of initiating a media trial. The cases are in court, where the determination of guilt or innocence belongs.

The legal proceedings between the Okoye brothers continue, with both sides publicly defending their stance while awaiting a court ruling.
