Four individuals have been detained in relation to the murder of former world boxing champion Zolani Tete, as confirmed by South African police on Monday.
Tete was fatally shot last week in Mdantsane, Eastern Cape, after reportedly being ambushed by armed men outside his residence.
Authorities stated that the former champion was in his vehicle, awaiting the opening of his residence gate, when two armed assailants approached and began firing.
The attackers were said to have worn balaclavas during the incident.
A woman who was in the vehicle with Tete was also injured in the attack and was taken to a hospital, where she remains under medical care.
Developments in the Case
South African police announced the arrest of four individuals connected to the murder.
One suspect, detained two days prior to Monday, was due in court on Monday. The other three suspects are anticipated to appear before the court at a later time.
