The African Democratic Congress (ADC) is confident it can secure victory in the 2027 presidential election without forming a coalition with other opposition parties. Bolaji Abdullahi, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, highlighted the ADC’s preparations for the upcoming 2027 general election and emphasized the party’s readiness to compete independently.

Initially, Abdullahi acknowledged that a broad coalition could have facilitated defeating the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). However, he now believes that the ADC has built enough political strength to contest on its own. Abdullahi stated that they do not need a coalition to win the election.

He pointed out that changes in the opposition’s political landscape, especially the exit of key political figures, have altered the original coalition dynamics. While the ADC remains open to working with other opposition groups, Abdullahi stressed that such alliances are no longer critical to their success.

He explained that while forming a coalition might simplify their campaign efforts, it is no longer a necessity for victory. This announcement comes as political movements intensify ahead of the 2027 presidential election, where the ADC aims to present former Vice President Atiku Abubakar as a formidable contender against President Bola Tinubu.

The ADC’s newfound confidence marks a departure from previous attempts to establish a comprehensive opposition alliance. As the election approaches, the party faces the challenge of converting its rising political profile into widespread grassroots support across the nation.

Meanwhile, the APC continues to gear up for President Tinubu’s re-election, with its governors publicly endorsing his campaign for a second term.
