The governorship candidate for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State, Bola Oyebamiji, praised the voter turnout in Ikire during the state’s gubernatorial election. He made this statement on Saturday, August 15, after casting his vote at the Open Space Gantry, Sawmill, Ward 009, Polling Unit 011 in Ikire, within the Irewole Local Government Area.
Oyebamiji remarked that the presence of voters, electoral officials, and security personnel at the polling unit indicated that the election process was proceeding smoothly. With electoral officials, voters, and security operatives present, he commended the high voter turnout in Ikire, noting that it demonstrated people’s lack of intimidation and that overall, things were progressing well throughout the state.
Addressing concerns about potential violence in Ikire later in the day, he urged security agencies to stay vigilant and ensure voter safety throughout the election. He called on police and other security forces to maintain proactivity to secure the polling process and expressed his belief that the election would be held transparently.
Responding to reports about a politician’s arrest linked to election materials, Oyebamiji expressed his expectation for law enforcement to fulfill their responsibilities. Regarding this incident, he reiterated his confidence that the police would perform their duties effectively.
Oyebamiji also conveyed his optimism about winning the election, expressing confidence in his prospects for victory.
