The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) has dismissed a widely circulated video allegedly featuring the Chief of Defence Staff, General Olufemi Oluyede, making politically charged statements.
In a statement released on Thursday, the DHQ labeled the video as false and fabricated, emphasizing that it did not come from the Chief of Defence Staff.
According to military officials, the comments linked to Oluyede in the video are inaccurate and should be ignored.
The DHQ explained that the video was produced using artificial intelligence to manipulate content, supposedly aimed at misleading the public, misrepresenting the Defence Chief’s stance, and tarnishing the reputation of the Nigerian Armed Forces.
The Defence Headquarters reiterated that the Nigerian Armed Forces remains a professional, apolitical, and non-partisan institution, dedicated to fulfilling its constitutional duties and protecting the nation.
The military condemned the video’s creation and distribution and warned those involved, as well as anyone knowingly spreading it, to cease their actions.
The DHQ urged the public to rely on information from official military communication channels and to disregard the video in circulation.
