Ogun State governorship aspirant Abayomi Hunye has criticised the All Progressives Congress (APC) over his suspension from the party, questioning the basis for the decision after he paid N50 million for the party’s nomination form.

Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Tuesday, Hunye said the APC accepted his nomination fee, issued him the necessary forms and allowed him to complete the required documentation.

He said he also passed the party’s screening process and was listed as number 52 on the screening list.

According to Hunye, he was recognised as a valid candidate during the governorship primary election held on May 21.

He therefore questioned how the party could accept his nomination, screen him as a candidate and later suspend him.

Hunye’s comments come amid growing political activity within the Ogun APC ahead of the 2027 governorship election, with internal party decisions and the treatment of aspirants becoming subjects of debate.

The dispute could further intensify as politicians and party members position themselves for the upcoming election.
