‘Spent Millions to Hide Records’: US Firm Makes Fresh Allegations Against Tinubu

Von Batten-Montague-York, a policy advisory and lobbying firm based in the United States, has accused President Bola Tinubu of spending millions to block the release of records related to an alleged drug-trafficking case.

The firm made this claim in a post on its verified X account, stating that Tinubu’s denial of efforts to prevent the records’ release is contradicted by alleged actions of his legal team in an ongoing Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) case.

The firm claims that Tinubu’s legal representatives have been involved in petitions to the court and have communicated with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) concerning these records.

The allegations have sparked renewed political discussion in Nigeria, especially as the 2027 general elections approach.

However, these assertions by the firm remain allegations and should not be considered verified without court findings or official documentation.

The controversy revolves around whether US law-enforcement agencies’ records concerning Tinubu should be disclosed under the FOIA.
