Singer Nissi has stirred conversations after making a confident assessment of her musical abilities compared with those of her brother, Burna Boy.
The artiste, who is the younger sister of the Grammy-winning Nigerian star, made the remarks during an appearance on Cool FM.
Nissi said she considers herself superior to Burna Boy in singing and suggested that her brother himself agrees with her assessment.
She explained that although Burna Boy is widely recognised for his versatility, she believes his biggest advantage over her is in the area of rap.
The singer said they have both acknowledged that she has the stronger singing ability.
Nissi’s comments add an interesting dimension to the relationship between the two siblings, both of whom have pursued careers in the entertainment industry.
From music to engineering and design
Although Nissi is known by many music lovers for her songs, her career extends beyond the recording studio.
She entered the music scene in 2016 with “Pay Attention” and has gone on to release other projects and collaborate with established artistes.
Her musical collaborations include Olamide and Fireboy DML, among others.
Nissi has also demonstrated an interest in engineering and product design.
She was involved with the Jaguar Land Rover engineering team that worked on the 2023 Range Rover model.
In addition, she reportedly designed the 2022 Havana Club X Burna project, which was recognised as one of the innovative products at Paris Packaging Week 2023.
With her latest statement, Nissi has once again drawn attention to her own musical identity while acknowledging the particular strength that has helped make Burna Boy one of Africa’s most prominent rap and Afrobeats stars.
