A prominent figure in the African Democratic Congress, Dele Momodu, has expressed concerns that President Bola Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress (APC) intend to use the upcoming Osun State election as a practice run for questionable tactics in preparation for the 2027 presidential election.
Momodu issued this caution to Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State in anticipation of the forthcoming governorship election. In a message shared on X, Momodu advised Adeleke not to rely on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to conduct a fair and transparent election.
According to Momodu, Tinubu wields considerable influence over INEC. He mentioned: “My dear twin brother, I feel compelled to convey this brief warning for the sake of future generations. Please be aware:
“Do not be misled into believing that INEC, under the firm control of President Bola Tinubu, will oversee a fair and credible election in Osun State on August 15, 2026.
“The APC administration plans to use your election as preparation for their dubious strategies leading up to the Presidential election in January 2027.
“Their relentless pursuit of power has led them down a dark path, and they now seem to think they are omnipotent.”
Momodu claimed that APC members in Osun had orders to secure the governorship victory by any necessary means. He added, “We’ve been cautioned by friends within the APC about potential outcomes. Their simple directive is: take control of Osun at all costs and manage any fallout afterwards.
“Stay steadfast in your faith as always. We commend your remarkable achievements.
“Let them run on their past accomplishments, which offer little of note. You are cherished.”
