Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has visited President Bola Tinubu following his victory in the August 15, 2026 governorship election.

During the visit, Adeleke presented his Certificate of Return to the President.

The meeting came days after Tinubu congratulated Adeleke on his re-election, describing the result as a reflection of the will of Osun voters.

“I called Governor Ademola Adeleke earlier today to congratulate him on his election victory in Osun State. His victory once again confirmed the confidence the people of Osun State have in him,” Tinubu said in a statement issued by his spokesman, Bayo Onanuga.

“The outcome of the election reflects the will of the people and is a fitting assurance that democracy will continue to flourish in our land,” the President added.

Adeleke Wins Second Term

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared Adeleke the winner of the election on Sunday.

According to the commission, Adeleke polled 511,067 votes to defeat his closest rival, Bola Oyebamiji of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who secured 444,815 votes.

Najeem Salaam of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) finished third with 17,180 votes.

INEC said 1,005,800 votes were cast across the state, with 985,079 valid votes recorded. A total of 1,010,684 voters were accredited for the election.

Adeleke Contested on Accord Platform

The election was contested by 15 political parties, with Adeleke seeking a second term on the platform of the Accord Party.

The governor previously won his first term under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) before leaving the party in December and contesting the 2026 election on the Accord platform.

Adeleke’s victory secured him another four-year term as governor of Osun State.
