Vice President Kashim Shettima has met with Nigerians in New York as part of his engagements during the 81st United Nations General Assembly, calling for support for the Federal Government’s economic development agenda.

Shettima is in New York representing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and leading Nigeria’s delegation to the UN gathering.

The Federal Government said his participation is focused on advancing Nigeria’s national interests and strengthening international partnerships.

Vice President engages Nigerian community

During his interaction with Nigerians in New York, Shettima encouraged members of the diaspora to remain connected to Nigeria’s development efforts.

He urged them to support the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which the government says is focused on economic reforms, infrastructure, investment, job creation and improved opportunities.

The engagement also provided an opportunity for the Vice President to discuss Nigeria’s economic priorities with citizens living abroad.

Economic transformation remains focus

The administration has continued to promote reforms designed to strengthen Nigeria’s economy and attract investment.

The Federal Government says the next phase of its economic programme is focused on moving from stabilization toward increased production, job creation and shared prosperity.

Shettima has also used his international engagements to highlight Nigeria’s investment opportunities.

At the UNGA, he called for greater African cooperation in developing mineral resources and expanding local processing and manufacturing.

Nigeria seeks stronger international partnerships

The Vice President’s New York engagements include meetings with global leaders, international organizations, investors and development partners.

According to the Federal Government, discussions are expected to cover economic development, climate action, technology, investment and reforms to the global financial system.

The meeting with Nigerians in New York therefore formed part of Shettima’s wider efforts to engage Nigerians and international stakeholders while representing the country at the United Nations.
