Three men have been brought before the Federal High Court in Abuja over an alleged $100,000 fraud linked to an automobile spare parts transaction.

The defendants are George Ali, Anthony Ali and Simon Ali.

The Nigeria Police Force accused them of criminal conspiracy, criminal breach of trust and obtaining by false pretences.

Dispute dates back to 2009

According to the police, the case arose from a transaction that took place in 2009.

The complainant allegedly engaged the suspects in connection with the purchase and shipment of auto spare parts from the United States.

Police said the complainant transferred $100,000 for the transaction.

However, investigators alleged that the agreed deal was not completed and that the funds were instead diverted.

INTERPOL NCB handled investigation

The matter was investigated by the INTERPOL National Central Bureau in Abuja after the complaint was lodged.

Police investigators examined the circumstances surrounding the transfer of the money and the alleged failure to complete the transaction as agreed.

The charges filed against the three suspects include conspiracy, breach of trust and obtaining money by false pretences.

The allegations have not been established as facts, and the defendants will have the opportunity to answer the charges before the court.

Case adjourned to December

The three suspects were arraigned before Court 6 of the Federal High Court, Maitama, Abuja.

Following the arraignment, the court fixed December 3, 2026, for further hearing.

The case is expected to continue as the court considers the evidence and arguments presented by the parties.

The police said the investigation was prompted by allegations that the $100,000 was not applied to the purpose for which it had been transferred.

The Nigeria Police Force also reaffirmed its commitment to investigating financial crimes and other offences.

The defendants remain presumed innocent unless proven guilty by a court of law.
