The New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) has declared that it will not grant an automatic presidential ticket to any aspirant ahead of the 2027 general election, insisting that all interested contenders must participate in a transparent and democratic selection process.

The party said its presidential candidate would emerge through its constitutionally approved nomination procedures, stressing that no individual would be given preferential treatment regardless of status or political influence.

Speaking on the party’s preparations for the 2027 elections, NNPP leaders emphasized their commitment to internal democracy, fairness, and equal opportunities for all qualified aspirants seeking the party’s presidential ticket.

According to the party, speculation that a particular aspirant had been guaranteed the presidential nomination is false and does not reflect the NNPP’s position.

The leadership maintained that every aspirant would be expected to meet the constitutional requirements, purchase the necessary nomination forms where applicable, and participate in the party’s primary election in line with the Electoral Act and the NNPP constitution.

The statement comes amid growing political realignments and reports linking prominent politicians to the NNPP as parties begin early consultations ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

Political analysts say the party’s position is intended to reassure members and supporters that the selection of its presidential candidate will be transparent, competitive, and based on established democratic principles.

The NNPP reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening internal democracy while urging members to remain united and avoid speculation capable of creating unnecessary divisions within the party.

As political activities ahead of the 2027 elections continue to gather momentum, observers expect more declarations, consultations, and strategic alliances among Nigeria’s major political parties.
