Professor Christopher Imumolen, the National Chairman of a faction within the Accord party, announced that the party would no longer support Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke in the upcoming governorship election on Saturday.
Imumolen announced at the All Progressives Congress (APC) mega rally in Osogbo that the party’s National Working Committee had chosen to support APC candidate Bola Oyebamiji, also known as AMBO, for the election on August 15.
Imumolen declared, “In my capacity as Chairman of the Accord and alongside all our National Working Committee members present today, we are withdrawing our support for Governor Ademola Adeleke and instead endorsing AMBO.”
He urged party members and supporters throughout Osun State to vote for Oyebamiji and the APC in Saturday’s election.
He stressed that all our members ought to support AMBO and the APC with their votes.
This endorsement came after the Accord decided to postpone its mega rally, originally scheduled for August 12, because of internal party issues. Imumolen explained that their choice to back Oyebamiji was due to these mobilization challenges.
While speaking at the APC rally, Senator Hope Uzodinma, leader of the Progressives Governors’ Forum, conveyed confidence in the APC’s prospects and urged Osun residents to support their candidate.
“Choose AMBO for prosperity and a thriving Osun. Today, 31 state governors gather to express our support in ushering Osun into the progressive fold,” Uzodinma declared.
If elected on August 15, Oyebamiji promised to prioritize good governance and improve the welfare of residents.
He declared, “Having been elected on August 15, 2026, our administration will focus entirely on the people. We are determined to honor your mandate with unwavering attention and effective governance. I am dedicated to enhancing the lives of Osun’s residents.”
Adegboyega Oyetola, the APC leader in Osun State and Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, urged voters to back Oyebamiji, emphasizing his reliability and experience as a candidate.
“Let’s show our support for Oyebamiji,” Oyetola commented, “His impressive track record truly stands out against the other candidates.”
