The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has so far uploaded 37% of the Osun State gubernatorial election results to its IReV portal for viewing.
As of 5:27 p.m., a Newworldtimes review verified that the commission is fulfilling its commitment to upload the election results onto the IReV platform.
Today, voters across Osun State headed to the polls to choose the next governor, who will serve a four-year term in the Bola Ige Government House.
Fifteen political parties appeared on the ballot, with incumbent Governor Ademola Adeleke running for re-election as a candidate from the Accord Party.
Two candidates, Adesina Adeyemi-Doro from the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) and Simon Adewale of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), have withdrawn from the race.
Adeyemi-Doro voiced his backing for the APC candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, whereas Adewale threw his support behind Adeleke. Despite these withdrawals of support, both APGA and APM continued to appear on the ballot.
Earlier reports suggested that Adeleke achieved a victory at his initial polling unit, while the Accord Party declared success at Polling Unit 026, Ward 5, in Osogbo Local Government Area.
INEC officials reported that the Accord Party garnered 57 votes, while the All Progressives Congress (APC) secured 43 votes.
As the collation process advances, results from multiple polling units across the state are continually being collected.
Despite reports of intimidation, vote-buying, and other forms of electoral violence in certain areas marring the election, voting has proceeded without incident in many parts of the state.
