Activist Omoyele Sowore has criticized Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke for backing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s 2027 presidential run, just a day after winning the Osun governorship election.
Sowore expressed his concerns on his official X account on Monday, August 17, 2026, questioning the casualties reported amidst the election-related violence.
The activist claimed that nearly 50 lives were lost around the election period and criticized the lack of accountability for those responsible.
He highlighted that lives were allegedly lost due to political violence and condemned what he viewed as prioritizing political deals over citizens’ lives.
Sowore also criticized Adeleke’s support for Tinubu’s re-election bid, implying that the governor’s decision was influenced by their common Yoruba ethnicity.
He demanded explanations for the reported deaths, questioning who was behind the violence and whether any substantial investigation had begun.
“Who killed them? Who ordered or facilitated the violence? Who is investigating their deaths? Where is the justice for their families?”
His remarks follow Adeleke’s public endorsement of Tinubu after his electoral success, which has reignited discussions about political alliances, election violence, and accountability in Osun State.
