The House of Representatives has intensified its investigation into the operations of an alleged fake government agency, issuing a 48-hour ultimatum to relevant Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) to submit requested documents and comply with the ongoing probe.

The directive was issued by the House committee handling the investigation, which warned that any agency that fails to meet the deadline could face legislative sanctions in accordance with the powers of the National Assembly.

Lawmakers said the probe is aimed at uncovering the circumstances surrounding the establishment and activities of the alleged agency, as well as identifying any officials who may have played roles in its operations.

According to the committee, the documents being requested are essential to determining whether due process was followed and whether public institutions were misrepresented or compromised.

The House stressed that the investigation is intended to strengthen accountability, transparency, and good governance within the public sector. Members of the committee assured Nigerians that the inquiry would be conducted fairly, objectively, and in line with constitutional provisions.

The latest development follows growing public concern over reports of unauthorized government entities allegedly operating within the country’s public administration, raising questions about oversight and institutional accountability.

Affected MDAs have been directed to appear before the committee with all relevant records within the stipulated 48-hour period. The House warned that failure to comply could result in further legislative action, including the issuance of summons where necessary.

As the investigation continues, the outcome of the probe is expected to shape future reforms aimed at preventing the emergence of unauthorized agencies and strengthening oversight across Nigeria’s public institutions.
