Supporters of Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara have expressed mixed reactions following reports of his reconciliation with the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, with some claiming the move could significantly affect the governor’s political standing.

The reactions come after recent developments suggested that Fubara and Wike had taken steps to mend their fractured political relationship following months of tension that dominated Rivers State politics.

While some supporters welcomed the reconciliation as a necessary step toward restoring peace and stability in the state, others expressed disappointment, arguing that the governor’s decision could weaken the political movement that emerged around him during the crisis.

Some critics among Fubara’s supporters alleged that aligning once again with Wike could damage the governor’s political image and influence ahead of future political contests. Others, however, maintained that reconciliation and dialogue are essential for effective governance and the overall development of Rivers State.

Political analysts note that the rapprochement between the two leaders could reshape the political landscape in Rivers, with implications for party structures, governance, and alliances ahead of future elections.

Neither Governor Fubara nor Minister Wike had publicly responded to the specific criticisms attributed to some supporters at the time of filing this report.

Observers say the long-term political impact of the reconciliation will depend on how both leaders manage their renewed relationship and whether it translates into greater political stability and improved governance in the state.
