A court has granted bail to the President of the Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore, Bello Badejo, in the sum of ₦2 billion as he faces trial over allegations brought against him.

The court, while delivering its ruling, imposed stringent bail conditions, including the execution of a ₦2 billion bond and the provision of sureties who must meet requirements set by the court.

Although the specific charges against Badejo were not extensively discussed during the proceedings, the case has attracted significant public attention due to his position as the leader of one of Nigeria’s prominent cattle breeders’ associations.

Counsel to the defendant welcomed the court’s decision, describing it as a demonstration of the judiciary’s commitment to upholding the constitutional right to bail. The legal team expressed confidence in proving Badejo’s innocence as the trial progresses.

The prosecution, on its part, assured the court of its readiness to present evidence in support of the charges, maintaining that the case would be pursued in accordance with the law.

The matter has been adjourned to a later date for the commencement or continuation of trial, during which both the prosecution and defence are expected to present their arguments.

The case has continued to generate public interest, with legal analysts stressing that the defendant, like every accused person, remains presumed innocent until proven guilty by a competent court.
