The American music industry has lost one of its acclaimed jazz voices, Cassandra Wilson, who has died at the age of 70.
Wilson died on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, at her home in Jackson, Mississippi, the city where she was born and raised.
Her manager, Robert Torre, announced the death on behalf of her management team, saying the singer passed away peacefully while surrounded by people close to her.
