Russia has warned the United Kingdom of unspecified “consequences” after a military source confirmed that British-made drones had been used in recent Ukrainian strikes against military and industrial targets inside Russia.
The Russian Embassy in London accused the UK of deliberately escalating the conflict and warned that the deeper Britain becomes involved, the greater the price it will have to pay.
Ukraine has intensified long-range drone attacks on targets inside Russia, including oil refineries, logistics facilities and sites linked to online retailer Wildberries.
The UK Ministry of Defence said Britain remained firmly committed to supporting Ukraine.
“Russia should be in no doubt about the resolve of this government to stand against Russian aggression,” an MoD spokesperson said.
Moscow has previously criticised Britain’s military support for Ukraine, including the supply of Storm Shadow missiles and drone technology. However, the Russian embassy did not specify what action it might take in response to the latest developments.
The escalation comes as Ukrainian attacks have increasingly affected Russia’s domestic fuel infrastructure and economy. Hundreds of Ukrainian drones have reportedly targeted the Moscow region in recent days, with a Wildberries warehouse damaged and a child injured, according to regional officials.
Meanwhile, Russian strikes on Ukraine have also continued, with officials reporting 17 deaths, including 10 people killed in a missile strike on the village of Pechenihy in northeastern Ukraine.
A military source told the BBC that British drones had been used in recent attacks on Russia, which Ukrainian officials and analysts say have contributed to significant economic losses.
