The information was revealed in a post on X by security analyst Bakatsine, who detailed that the bandits targeted these two communities, resulting in numerous fatalities and injuries among the residents.

Bandits launched attacks on Bardoki in Gummi LGA and Bunkasau in Bukkuyum LGA of Zamfara State on Sunday afternoon. These attacks resulted in multiple deaths and injuries, as well as significant destruction of homes and properties.
The security analyst also noted that members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (Civilian JTF) attempting to respond to the Bunkasau attack found themselves ambushed by the bandits.
The crisis intensified when the attackers moved on to Ruwan-Kura, allegedly setting the community on fire. This prompted a further exodus of residents seeking refuge in safer locations.
Some displaced individuals have reportedly found shelter in Daki Takwas, while others have fled to Dargaje. The situation has considerably raised anxiety levels among those residing in the affected communities, forcing many to abandon their homes, farms, businesses, and personal belongings.
These recent attacks further exacerbate the ongoing security challenges faced by communities across Zamfara State and the broader North-West region. Residents in these areas remain under threat from armed groups engaging in attacks, kidnappings, and property destruction.
The reported fatalities and community burnings have heightened concerns about civilian safety in rural areas where a prompt security response is challenging.
As of this report, the exact casualty numbers from Sunday’s attacks remain unconfirmed. Authorities are anticipated to release more information as security operations and assessments progress.
These events highlight the critical need for enhanced security measures, better intelligence gathering, and quicker emergency responses to protect vulnerable communities and prevent additional loss of life and displacement.
