Reality TV star and entrepreneur Mercy Eke has shared her views on relationships and domestic responsibilities, saying she would not date or marry a man who expects her to cook regularly.

Speaking during a recent interview, the former Big Brother Naija winner explained that she believes household responsibilities should be shared rather than placed solely on one partner. According to her, modern relationships thrive on mutual understanding, flexibility, and respect for each other’s lifestyle and career commitments.

Mercy said she values a partnership where both individuals contribute in ways that work for them, adding that cooking should not be treated as an obligation imposed on one person because of traditional gender expectations.

Her comments have generated mixed reactions on social media. While many supporters applauded her stance, arguing that couples should define responsibilities based on mutual agreement, others maintained that cooking remains an important aspect of family life and should be embraced by both partners.

Relationship experts note that there is no universal formula for dividing household duties, emphasizing that successful marriages are built on communication, compromise, and shared expectations rather than rigid roles.

Mercy Eke, who has remained one of Nigeria’s most influential reality television personalities since winning the 2019 Big Brother Naija edition, frequently shares her opinions on relationships, personal growth, and entrepreneurship, often sparking conversations among her fans.

As the debate continues online, many observers agree that the key message is the importance of couples discussing expectations early in their relationships to avoid future misunderstandings.
