Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to apologise to Nigerians and resign over the controversy surrounding the alleged operations of the PFIPC, describing the development as a serious test of accountability in government.

In a statement, Atiku said the reported scandal has raised concerns about oversight within public institutions and called for a transparent investigation to establish the facts and hold anyone found culpable accountable.

The former presidential candidate argued that the controversy has undermined public confidence in governance, insisting that Nigerians deserve clear explanations from the relevant authorities regarding the circumstances surrounding the matter.

Atiku also urged anti-corruption agencies and investigative bodies to conduct an impartial inquiry into the allegations, stressing that accountability and the rule of law should apply to all public officials regardless of their political affiliation.

The comments add to the growing political debate over the PFIPC controversy, which has attracted widespread public attention and prompted investigations by the National Assembly.

The Presidency has yet to issue a formal response to Atiku’s latest remarks at the time of filing this report. However, government officials have previously maintained that appropriate institutions are handling issues relating to the controversy in accordance with the law.

Political analysts say the exchange reflects the increasingly charged political atmosphere as parties and key stakeholders position themselves ahead of future electoral contests.

The outcome of ongoing investigations is expected to determine the next course of action, while Nigerians continue to await official findings from the relevant authorities.
