The abductors of Chief Sir Joseph Ezeokafor, the chairman of Jezco Group, have allegedly demanded a ransom of N1.5 billion for his release.

According to NEWWORLDTIMES, the kidnappers initially demanded N700 million from the family.

A source, requesting to remain anonymous, revealed that the kidnappers have made contact with the family.

According to the source, the kidnappers initially requested N700 million, an amount that the victim’s family reportedly agreed to in their efforts to secure their father’s release.

However, it was reported that the kidnappers later increased their demand to N1.5 billion.

According to the source, while the family had been open to negotiations with the abductors, communication from the kidnappers ceased.

It was reported that the family finds themselves in a challenging situation, as attempts to reestablish contact with the abductors have apparently been unsuccessful.

A week after the kidnapping of the businessman in his seventies, both the police and state government officials have maintained their silence regarding the incident.

The Anambra State Police Command has not yet released an official statement regarding the incident.

Ezeokafor was abducted on Tuesday around 2 a.m. as he reportedly departed his home to visit a prayer ground for his yearly spiritual renewal.

It was reported that he left without his security detail, making it easy for the kidnappers to reach him.
