The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has destroyed more than 329,865 kilogrammes of illicit drugs valued at approximately N301 billion in Lagos.
The court-ordered destruction was carried out on Monday at Navy Town, Ojo, involving narcotics linked to concluded cases and abandoned seizures.
The destroyed drugs included cocaine, heroin, methamphetamine, ephedrine, khat leaf, tramadol, codeine syrup and cannabis, including varieties known as “Canadian Loud” and skunk.
The NDLEA said the drugs were seized during operations conducted across Lagos between April 2025 and May 2026.
The agency’s Lagos Strategic Command accounted for 246,864.535kg, while specialised commands and units, including those at Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Tincan and Apapa, the Marine Command and Special Operations Unit, contributed another 83,001.05kg.
Speaking at the destruction site, NDLEA Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (retd.), said the exercise demonstrated the government’s determination to disrupt drug trafficking networks and protect Nigerians.
Marwa warned drug barons and financiers that law enforcement agencies would continue to pursue them regardless of how sophisticated their networks might be.
The event also attracted senior government and security officials, including representatives of the Lagos State Government, Nigeria Customs Service and Nigerian Navy, who pledged continued cooperation in the fight against illicit drugs.
