Troops from Sector 2 of the Joint Task Force North West, part of Operation FANSAN YAMMA, in partnership with the Nigeria Police Force, successfully rescued 33 kidnapped passengers in the Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
This information was shared in a statement by Lt-Col Aliyu Danja, the media information officer for JTF North West Operation FANSAN YAMMA, on Sunday.
Danja reported that the rescue took place on August 8 following credible intelligence that terrorists had abducted travelers passing through the Magazu section of Tsafe LGA.
Upon receiving this information, troops and police personnel stationed in Tsafe promptly mobilized to the area.
The spokesperson further explained that security forces encountered the terrorists while they were transporting the abducted passengers to an undisclosed location.
“Engaging the terrorists with effective firepower, the troops forced them to flee into nearby bushes and abandon the victims.
All 33 abducted individuals were subsequently secured and rescued without any casualties,” he added.
