Actress Nkechi Blessing Sunday has postponed the release of her movie Egusi Ogbono following the death of Nollywood actor Chijioke “Cjay” Nwokafor.
Blessing announced the actor’s death on Wednesday through her Instagram page, where she posted videos featuring herself and Nwokafor.
The actor was part of the cast of Egusi Ogbono, which Blessing had planned to release at 5 p.m. on Wednesday.
However, the actress decided to withdraw the film’s release after receiving confirmation from a hospital that Nwokafor had died.
Cause of death not disclosed
Blessing did not reveal what caused Nwokafor’s death in her announcement.
She instead focused on mourning her colleague and honouring his memory by cancelling the scheduled release of the movie in which he appeared.
The announcement quickly drew attention from fans and members of the entertainment community, who joined the actress in mourning the actor.
Nwokafor’s death adds to a series of losses that have affected Nigeria’s entertainment industry, as colleagues and fans continue to remember actors who have contributed to Nollywood.
Further details about the actor, including the circumstances surrounding his death, were not provided in Blessing’s announcement.
